Welcome to Lucid. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Lucid, LLC ("Lucid," "we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the Lucid mobile application, the website at trylucidfinance.com, and all related services (collectively, the "Service").
PLEASE READ THESE TERMS CAREFULLY. THEY INCLUDE AN ARBITRATION AGREEMENT AND CLASS ACTION WAIVER (SECTION 17) THAT AFFECT YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS, AND IMPORTANT DISCLAIMERS ABOUT FINANCIAL INFORMATION (SECTION 5).
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and a resident of the United States to use the Service. By creating an account, you represent that you meet these requirements and that any information you provide is accurate.
2. Your Account
You may create an account using an email address and password, Google Sign-In, Sign in with Apple, or an employer-provided company access code. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at support@trylucidfinance.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
3. The Service
Lucid is a read-only personal finance service. We help you view, organize, and understand your financial picture, including spending, balances, liabilities, scores, forecasts, and AI-assisted insights. We do not hold, move, or transfer money; we do not execute transactions; and we never receive your bank login credentials. Account connections are provided through Plaid Inc. as described in our Privacy Policy.
Features vary by plan as described in the app and on our pricing page, and we may modify, add, or remove features over time.
4. AI Features
The Service includes AI-powered features (chat, insights, recaps, budget generation, categorization, and planning tools). AI-generated content may contain errors and is provided for educational purposes only. Your use of AI features is subject to the Financial & AI Disclaimer described in Section 5.
5. No Financial Advice
Lucid is not a financial advisor, investment adviser, broker-dealer, tax advisor, or attorney. All content provided through the Service, including AI responses, scores, forecasts, and insights, is general information and education only. It is not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, and it is not a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security or take any financial action. Our complete Financial & AI Disclaimer is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Always consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions. You are solely responsible for your decisions.
6. Plans, Subscriptions, and Billing
Plans. Lucid offers a Free plan and paid plans (currently Basic and Pro), with monthly and annual billing options, as described in the app and on our pricing page. Lifetime Access is addressed in Section 8.
Payment processing. Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. When you subscribe, you will be directed to a Stripe checkout to provide payment details; Lucid never receives your card information. If we offer billing through Apple In-App Purchase or Google Play Billing in the future, those purchases will also be subject to Apple's or Google's terms.
Billing and auto-renewal. Subscriptions begin immediately upon purchase (we do not currently offer free trials) and renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual) until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges to your payment method at the then-current price for your plan.
Price changes. We may change subscription prices. If we do, we will notify existing subscribers at least 30 days before the new price applies to their renewal. Your continued subscription after the new price takes effect constitutes acceptance; if you do not agree, cancel before your next renewal.
Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, we will retry the charge and you will keep access to your paid plan for up to 14 days while we do. If payment still cannot be collected, your account reverts to the Free plan. You can restore your paid plan at any time by updating your payment method and resubscribing.
7. Cancellation and Refunds
You can cancel your subscription at any time from Manage Subscription in the app, which opens your Stripe billing portal. Cancellation stops future billing; your paid access continues until the end of the billing period you have already paid for, and no refunds are provided for partial billing periods except where required by law.
Refund terms, including the 30-day refund window for Lifetime Access purchases, are described in our Refund Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
8. Lifetime Access
Lifetime Access, where offered, provides access to the Pro plan for the lifetime of the Service, that is, for as long as Lucid continues to operate the Service. This includes features we add to the Pro plan over time. It does not include separately priced add-ons, which would be offered separately. Lifetime Access is personal to your account and is not transferable. Lifetime Access purchases are refundable within 30 days of purchase as described in our Refund Policy.
9. Employer-Sponsored Plans (Company Access)
If your employer sponsors your access to Lucid, your seat is provided under your employer's arrangement with us. As described in our Privacy Policy, your employer can never see your financial information, only whether you have activated your sponsored seat. If your employer's sponsorship ends (for example, your employer stops paying for its seats or removes you from its roster), we will notify you by email and your account remains active for a 30-day grace period. During that time you keep access to your data and can export it, add a personal email address and password so you can keep signing in, and choose a paid plan of your own. If you take no action, at the end of the grace period your account converts to the Free plan. Your account is not deleted because your employer's sponsorship ended, and it is no longer connected to your employer. You can delete your account yourself at any time.
10. Acceptable Use
You agree not to: (a) use the Service for any unlawful purpose; (b) attempt to access another user's account or data; (c) probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service or circumvent its security or access controls; (d) reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the Service except as permitted by law; (e) scrape, harvest, or collect data from the Service by automated means; (f) resell, sublicense, or provide the Service to third parties as a service bureau; (g) use the Service to develop a competing product; (h) misuse AI features, including attempting to extract other users' information or generate unlawful content; or (i) interfere with the operation of the Service or impose an unreasonable load on our infrastructure.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.
11. Your Content and License to Us
You retain ownership of the information you provide to the Service. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, process, and display that information solely to provide and improve the Service as described in our Privacy Policy. We claim no ownership of your financial data.
12. Our Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, design, logos, scores, algorithms, and content (other than your content), is owned by Lucid or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use in accordance with these Terms. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
13. Third-Party Services
The Service depends on third-party services, including Plaid (account connectivity), Stripe (payments), Google Cloud (hosting), and AI providers (Anthropic and Google Vertex AI). Your use of Plaid is subject to Plaid's End User Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of third-party services, and information they provide (including account data from your financial institutions) may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate, so always verify balances and transactions directly with your financial institution.
14. Privacy
Our collection and use of your information is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
15. Disclaimers of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT ANY INFORMATION PROVIDED (INCLUDING AI OUTPUTS, SCORES, AND FORECASTS) IS ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR CURRENT. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
16. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW: (A) LUCID AND ITS MEMBERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, LOST SAVINGS, LOST DATA, OR INVESTMENT LOSSES, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY; AND (B) OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF $100 OR THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE. THESE LIMITS APPLY REGARDLESS OF LEGAL THEORY. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIABILITY LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. THIS SECTION APPLIES TOGETHER WITH THE FINANCIAL & AI DISCLAIMER.
17. Arbitration Agreement and Class Action Waiver
Please read this section carefully. It affects your rights.
Informal resolution first. Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at support@trylucidfinance.com and attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for 30 days.
Binding arbitration. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service that is not resolved informally will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The arbitration will be held in Utah County, Utah, or remotely by videoconference at your election. The arbitrator's decision is final and enforceable in court. Judgment may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.
Class action waiver. All disputes must be brought on an individual basis. You and Lucid each waive the right to participate in a class action, class arbitration, or representative proceeding. If this waiver is found unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim must proceed in court, not arbitration.
Exceptions. Either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court, and either party may seek injunctive relief in court for intellectual property infringement or unauthorized access to the Service.
Opt-out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing support@trylucidfinance.com with the subject "Arbitration Opt-Out," your name, and the email on your account, within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. Opting out does not affect any other section of these Terms.
18. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from within the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service; where practicable, we will provide reasonable notice. Upon termination, your data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 5, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 20, and 22) survive.
19. Apple App Store Terms
If you download the app from Apple's App Store, the following additional terms apply: (a) these Terms are between you and Lucid only, and Apple is not a party and has no responsibility for the app or its content; (b) your license is limited to use on Apple-branded devices you own or control, subject to the App Store Terms of Service; (c) Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app; (d) in the event the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any), and to the maximum extent permitted by law Apple has no other warranty obligation; (e) Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, or consumer protection claims; (f) in the event of a third-party claim that the app infringes intellectual property rights, Lucid, not Apple, is responsible; (g) you represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo and are not on any U.S. government restricted-party list; and (h) Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
20. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except that the Federal Arbitration Act governs Section 17. Subject to Section 17, any claims not subject to arbitration must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Utah County, Utah, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
21. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the "Last Updated" date above, and for material changes we will provide notice in the app or by email and may require you to accept the updated Terms to continue using the Service. Material changes take effect no earlier than the date we notify you. Your continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
22. Miscellaneous
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Financial & AI Disclaimer, Refund Policy, and Cookie Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Lucid regarding the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Notices to you may be provided in the app or by email to your account address.
